We are a graphic design studio focused on creative direction, design, and branding—especially in the editorial, cultural, and art fields.
We avoid a fixed style, and instead work alongside our clients to develop a typographic voice, visual language, materiality, and form.
We explore the margins, listen to
all agents involved in a project, and encourage critical perspectives.
is the English translation of Seuils, the original term coined by Gérard Genette to refer to the liminal devices and conventions—both within and outside the book—that form part of the complex mediation between book, author, publisher, and reader. Titles, forewords, epigraphs, and publishers’ jacket copy all contribute to a book’s private and public history.
Thanks to Claudia de la Torre
for putting me on the track of Genette’s work some time ago.
Prior to Paratext, Esteve Padilla was the founder and designer of 131 Disseny Gràfic, a design studio that operated from 2014 to 2024.
